Retirement & Care Services Crack the Code!
DOWNLAND Housing Association has been recognised as a top quality provider of retirement housing after achieving the Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies Code of Practice accreditation.
The Retirement & Care Department at Downland Housing Association offers support to 1000 older residents across the South East who want to lead an independent life in their own homes.
The code of practice is awarded by the Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies as a benchmark of quality and those who make the grade must demonstrate good practice across 10 standards covered within the code including service delivery, promoting independence and empowering residents.
Following a rigorous 18 month assessment scheme managers and staff members worked together to produce a portfolio of evidence to show they had met the standards. Part of the assessment process also included visits to three of our schemes, Bankside in Farnham, Dart Court, in East Grinstead and The Beeches in Waterlooville. Residents and tenant representatives were also interviewed and asked about services.
Sara Gohl, Downland Housing Association’s Retirement and Care Manager, said: “We are delighted that we have achieved this kite mark. It demonstrates our commitment to delivering a quality service and it is great to be recognised externally for all our hard work. The code took 18 months to complete and will now act as a foundation on which Downland can evaluate, build and continuously improve.”
