Show is straight from Wonderland
RESIDENTS at a retirement housing scheme in Hurstpierpoint followed Alice down the rabbit hole thanks to a children’s performing arts group.
Residents at Ribbetts House – which is owned and managed by Downland Housing Association – enjoyed a performance of the Lewis Carrol classic Alice in Wonderland at the weekend.
The show was staged by children aged from seven to 12, who are all members of the Razzmatazz Drama Group.
The play was put on free of charge by the group for residents of the 34 flats at Ribbetts House, as well as for other older members of the community and families of the young performers.
Trudi Hamer, senior scheme manager in retirement and care services at Downland Housing Association, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Razzmatazz could perform at Ribbetts House.
“It was a lovely treat for all who attended. Our aim is to provide residents at our retirement housing schemes with opportunities to live life to the full, and we also aim to open our buildings up as a community resource.
“I was approached by Razzmatazz who offered to do the performance and I jumped at the chance to have them perform here. We all really enjoyed the show.”
Sam Nixon is group leader at Razzmatazz, a children’s performance group which was established last year.
She said: “It was great to be able to give something back to the community and the event was a really good experience for the children.”
