50,000 Plus One

Affinity Sutton had a remarkable double celebration this week. The Group celebrated both the first anniversary of the merger of the Affinity Homes Group and William Sutton Group that created Affinity Sutton and the completion of our 50,000th home.

“There couldn’t be a better way of celebrating our first birthday than by also completing our 50,000th home,” said Group Chief Executive, Keith Exford. “The completion of our 50,000th property underlines the reputation we have earned as housing developers with timely delivery and high quality design.

“Though we may just be only one year old as a Group, the experience and heritage of each of our operating companies gives us one hundred years of history and invaluable strength and depth in all areas of housing management and development,” added Keith.

“An important part of our merger was to deliver real efficiencies too,” said Keith Exford.  “In our first year alone we will achieve groupwide cost savings of £1 million, with annual savings of £2.2 million planned from 2008/09 onwards.  We are also committed, as a business for social purpose, to invest our surpluses in our active new homes development programme, our existing homes and our local communities.”

With a dedicated workforce of 1,680 employees the Group now has homes in over 100 local authority areas and has a new homes development pipeline of 7,000 homes by 2010.

The delighted resident of Affinity Sutton’s 50,000th home is Mrs Leonora Ling,
of Stonyhall in Stevenage, Herts.  Her new home was developed as part of a major regeneration project there. Of her brand new, two bedroom, first floor apartment Mrs Ling said: “It’s perfect for me. It’s everything I ever wanted.”
