![]() 30 July 2004 D8/2004 Downland continues crack down on anti social behaviour In the second prosecution for anti social behaviour this month to be brought by Downland Housing Association in mid-Sussex, a Hurstpierpoint man was handed a suspended prison sentence. Brighton County Court heard yesterday (July 29) how Lea Williams of Willow Gardens, Hurstpierpoint had breached an injunction obtained by Downland in February this year. Contrary to his injunction, Williams used threatening behaviour to a female resident on three separate occasions (Monday June 7, Friday June 11 and Saturday June 12). The defendant was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment suspended for 7 months and warned by the court that any further breach would result in imprisonment. “The injunction was obtained following Williams’ continued threatening behaviour and his assault on another resident,” said Kevin Day, Area Manager for Downland Housing Association. “This suspended prison sentence will serve as a final warning to Williams that this type of behaviour is simply not acceptable and that one more breach of the injunction will lead to the loss of his freedom. “Downland takes the safety and wellbeing of its residents extremely seriously and we are pleased that the Courts support us in our fight against anti social behaviour,” he added.
