Downland set to evict family following ‘Intolerable catalogue of antisocial behaviour’
Downland Housing Association is set to evict a Cuckfield family on July 7 following a court hearing last Thursday (June 17).
Downland worked with Haywards Heath police to bring this action as part of its ongoing programme to crack down on antisocial behaviour.
District Judge McLoughlin sitting at Haywards Heath County Court gave permission to evict a family from The Highlands, Cuckfield for what he described as “a sustained and intolerable catalogue of antisocial behaviour”.
The two sons of the tenant caused problems across the district for a number of years and the youngest son is the subject of an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).
Kevin Day, Area Manager for Downland Housing Association, said “Hopefully this will send a clear message to the small minority of people who allow their children to commit acts of antisocial behaviour.
“By working closely with Sussex Police we are able to deal effectively with problems that affect people’s lives, I would like to thank all those residents who attended Court to give evidence.”
Inspector Chris Ball commented this week, "This positive action between Downland and Haywards Heath police proves that effective sharing of information works.
“It sends a clear message that action will be taken against individuals who commit antisocial behaviour and that it will not be tolerated. The police will continue to fully support the housing association, “ he added.
