Threatening behaviour results in year long injunction
Downland Housing Association was granted a full year-long injunction on Thursday 13 January 2005 against Joseph and Jane Brazil both of 30 Weald Close, Hurstpierpoint.
This was following an assault on the neighbour by Jane Brazil, Joseph Brazil attacking a 6’ wooden gate with a chainsaw and threats made by the couple to their neighbour, her son and even their dog.
Joseph Brazil was given 28 days imprisonment suspended for six months when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court in December for breaching the injunction.
The injunctions granted yesterday prevent the Brazils from
- Behaving in any manner or engaging in conduct, which causes or is likely to cause, nuisance, annoyance, harassment, alarm or distress to any other person.
- Not to use foul, abusive or threatening or insulting language towards their neighbour, members of her family or visitors to he property.
- Not to assault or threaten to assault the neighbour, members of her family or visitors to the property
- Not to damage or threaten to damage any property belonging to Downland or their neighbour
The injunctions are in place until 12 January 2006.
Inspector Stephen Rigby of Burgess Hill police said "Burgess Hill police and Downland Housing Association continue to work closely in partnership together, and this is another example of what can be achieved"
Kevin Day area Manager for Downland Housing Association said “Anti Social Behaviour is not acceptable in any circumstances, this case shows that it is not just youths who are capable of causing misery. We will continue working in partnership with Sussex Police and we will take effective action against anyone who causes misery to our residents”
