Mid Sussex man breaches injunction again

Downland Housing Association yesterday (June 23rd) secured a further six month suspended prison sentence and the injunction with power of arrest extended for another 6 months against Ricky Fitzgerald following a breach of his injunction issued in July 2004.

The court granted the suspended sentence after he breached his original injunction by entering the area of Haywards Heath he is banned from. Fitzgerald has now three breached his order. Back in February 2005 he was found within the Bentswood area of Haywards Heath of which he is forbidden and was then remanded on bail after failing to appear in court.

“Downland is pleased with the judge Simkiss decision. We take these breaches very seriously and want Mid Sussex to know we are doing our best to protect them from anti social behaviour” said Sue Norris, Area Manager Tenancy Services for Downland Housing Association.

Downland is committed to tackling anti social behaviour and will continue to use the powers, old and new, to protect the people who live in its homes.

Inspector Chris Ball said: “The arrest of Fitzgerald was made as a result of information given to Crime Stoppers. We continue our partnership efforts in order to combat behaviour that causes harassment or distress to the community. With the communities help we can uphold the orders made against those that cause anti social behaviour”.
