Downland dig Denham road!

Green fingered Downland residents are giving Denham Road in Burgess Hill a facelift today by planting out two flower beds on the road islands.

Work has been ongoing over the last couple of weeks to rebuild the two roundabouts as they had been run over by numerous vehicles and were unsightly. Following this facelift, adults and children alike are set to take up their trowels and brighten up the area by planting shrubs and flowers.

The project cost a total of £3,000 and was made possible thanks to a successful bid under Downland’s Estate Improvement budget and licenced by West Sussex County Council who own the roundabouts.

“This will be a great improvement to Denham Road/West Park Crescent and shows a great community spirit from the residents, “ said Downland Area Manager, Kevin Day.

“I hope this is the first of many environmental improvements for this area,” he added.

Downland Chief Executive, Mark Perry also showed his support for the project by joining in the planting on the day.
