Police present first civilian ‘Programme Resolve Award’

Kevin Day, Area Housing Manager at Downland Housing Association is the first civilian to be presented with a Programme Resolve Award from Sussex Police for his anti social behaviour partnership work.

Robin Smith, Chief Inspector at Mid Sussex Police nominated Kevin Day for the award because of his outstanding work in tackling anti social behaviour in Mid Sussex.

Chief Inspector Smith said: “Kevin’s unwavering support and determination to resolve these problems with partners such as Sussex Police is a credit to Downland. We cannot thank him enough for all his hard work in making Mid Sussex a safer place to live.

Downland has been very active with dealing with anti social behaviour in the past few months thanks to new powers being introduced. July was the month for action with 27 year old Ricky Fitzgerald from Haywards Heath being handed a prison sentence for breaking his injunction after subjecting Downland residents to a catalogue of abuse. Lea Williams from Hurstpierpoint was given a suspended sentence after using threatening behaviour and assaulting a resident led to an injuction with powers of arrest.

Kevin said: “I was totally shocked to receive the award and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who is supporting our fight against anti social behaviour. Together we will crack it”.

“Downland takes the safety and wellbeing of its residents extremely seriously and we are pleased that the police, community and Courts support us in our fight against anti social behaviour,” he added.
